A loan of $925 helped to buy more fruit and vegetables to stock her business.

Emma's story

Emma is 52 years old. She is a friendly, cheerful and responsible woman who is separated from her husband. However, she is a mother of 2 children. One is 27 years old and independent. The other is 19 years old, living and studying in Lima and still dependent on her. She lives in her own house with her nieces to whom she rents out rooms. Emma works selling regional fruit and vegetables, including coral palm, guavas, peach tomatoes, soursop, custard apple, camu camu and more such as the regional tomatoes, cilantro and sweet chillies. She has a stand at the number 2 city market and she has been working here for 42 years.

What she likes about her work is that she can take the time to work, have fun with her friends in the market and generate an income for her household as well as work directly with people and be in touch with them, something she likes doing. She is doing well as she has her customers acquired over so many years of work. She hopes to continue working this way at her stand and has in mind a project to improve her house so as to set up a guest house and start living from the income that that would generate. This will be her 10th loan with MFP. So far she is doing well thanks to the loans received earlier and so she hopes to be able to count on your support again. With the amount requested, she will buy more fruit and vegetables to continue selling her produce and offering a greater variety to her different and loyal customers.
