A loan of $1,100 helped to buy tires.

Fanny Carmen's story

Fanny is a member of the La Merced communal bank. She lives by the Santa Ana (Cuenca) parish. This place has a cold climate, and its people devote themselves to raising animals and farming. Many people work in the city in different business activities. The people maintain the culture and traditions of their villages.

Fanny, age 30, is married and has two children, ages 13 and 5. Her oldest child attends high school, and her second child goes to a school in the city. Her husband is a driver, and he works driving his own heavy transport vehicle. They do not have their own home, so they live in their relatives’ house.

Fanny devotes herself to the household chores and taking care of her children. As she is at home, she raises animals like pigs, chickens, and guinea pigs.

This is her fourth loan in the communal bank. She will use it to buy tires for her husband’s heavy transport vehicle. She will do this so that he will be able to continue with his business.

Her goal is to have her own house.
