Maarifa Group's story

Zamda, who is in her mid-30s, is married and has three children, all of whom attend school. Zamda has been selling sweet potatoes and tomatoes for four years now, earning a fair monthly profit working from 6 a.m. to 12 noon daily.

This will be her fifth loan from Tujijenge Tanzania, her previous ones, all since repaid, having helped to build a canopy for her house and purchase sweet potatoes and tomatoes. Zambda will use this loan to buy more sweet potatoes and tomatoes in bulk from upcountry. Her dream is to one day buy a motorcycle for a transport business.

She will share this loan with her loan group "Maarifa," which has a total of 19 members who will hold each other accountable for paying back their loans.
