A loan of $3,300 helped a member to buy more maize grains, grind them and sell flour.

Kampala One Group's story

Paulo, who is in his late 40s, is married and has six children. Four of them are still going to school and two of them are grown and on their own. He also takes care of his mother. He works from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and is able to make a good monthly profit. This will be his first motisha loan from Tujijenge Tanzania, and he wants to use it for buying more maize grains, grinding them and selling flour. A motisha loan is a product offered by Tujijenge Tanzania, given in the middle of the main loan, that motivates borrowers with good credit ratings who pay back their loans smoothly to receive half the amount of the existing loan before their original loan term has ended. He will share this loan with his loan group "Kampala One," which has 10 members who will hold each other accountable in paying back their loans.
