A loan of $375 helped to purchase corn seeds and hire farmlabourers.

Vacelisa's story

Vacelisa is 37 years old. She has 10 children and still supports 7 of them. She lives with her husband Venancio in a small rustic house she owns. She and her numerous family work in agriculture. In their 15 plots of land they sow coffee, corn, manioc, plantain, and other produce for personal consumption. "Annatto is a product for which there is a lot of demand in the province of Chanchamayo", she mentions. She herself considers this crop profitable because said plant is used for coloring cheeses and butters, and also as a main ingredient for making condiments.
The main problem she faces comes when the weather is bad, with too much or too little rainfall, and also when the price of her produce is down. Vacelisa and Venancio live harmoniously, but they wish that in time their 15 plots of land can be cultivated in their entirety. That way they can establish themselves financially and give their children a good education.
This is the first loan they receive from MFP. Because of it, she is enthusiastic about the days and months to come and also about working with her communal bank, with which she is pleased so far. With the loan she requests she will purchase corn seeds and pay the farmlabourers who help her with sowing and harvesting.
