A loan of $1,200 helped to buy a canoe for catching fish for her to sell.

Blanca Vilma's story

Blanca Vilma is 43 years old. She is married, and has five children (three of whom are adults).

For the last three years, Blanca Vilma has been working selling fish. She works with her husband, who is a fisherman. Her husband goes out to fish every day at 3 p.m., and fishes throughout the night. At 5 a.m., Blanca Vilma waits for him at the edge of the lagoon where he does his fishing, to receive the fish and take them for sale.

In order to sell the fish, Blanca Vilma puts them on a tray with ice and transports them by buy to a nearby city. Once there, Blanca Vilma sells the fish door-to-door. Her day finishes at 1 p.m., at which point Blanca Vilma returns home.

Blance Vilma has requested a loan from Fundación Campo to purchase a canoe. Currently, she and her husband pay to rent a canoe in order to be able to fish. With their own canoe, Blanca Vilma expects to be able to improve her household income.

In the future Blanca Vilma plans to be able to purchase one more canoe, so that her children will also be able to fish. By selling more fish, Blanca Vilma would like to be able to buy a vehicle, which she would be able to use for going to make her sales.
