David's story

David is a farmer from the village of Bardubani, Imereti Region, West Georgia. David is 51 years old, married and lives with his family: his wife, Tea; his 12-year-old son; and his 10-year-old daughter. Both children go to school. David and Tea earn a living through the family agricultural business. In particular, they have a small dairy farm with two milk cows. They produce cheese and sell it on the local market. Along with the dairy, the family owns 1 hectare of land where greens and various vegetables are grown. Harvested vegetables are sold to local greengrocery retailers. Total average monthly income of the family is 550 Laris (approximately 330 USD). David requested credit to purchase seeds of onions and plastic for construction of a small greenhouse. He will sow the onion in the greenhouse and sell it for a high price in the winter and early spring months. It will increase the income of the family and will be used for purchasing necessary household goods to improve the living conditions of the family.
