A loan of $900 helped to buy compost, fertilizers, and poultry feed.

Alegría Concepción's story

The Communal Bank “Plazoleta Eloy Alfaro” meets every 15 days in the September 30th neighborhood of the canton of Rocafuerte (Portoviejo). This place is known for its delicious sweets that are prepared by the locals and known throughout the entire country.

Sra. Alegría lives in this place. She is 62 years old, married, and has four children who are grown and independent. Her husband is a farmer. Alegría has been with the Communal Bank for 13 loan cycles and enjoys the assistance she has received from the organization.

She is requesting a loan to help her husband with his farming activities. He grows short-cycle crops such as corn, peppers, and tomatoes. Her husband works six to seven hours caring for and irrigating his crops while she takes care of the household and raises native chickens. Her animals keep her entertained and do not require a great amount of time. When her husband’s crops are harvested, they will be taken to the wholesale market in Portoviejo.

This loan will be used to buy compost, fertilizers, and also feed for her chickens. Her dream is to have good health.
