A loan of $450 helped to buy fabric, thread and other embroidery supplies.

Luz Melida's story

Luz is a member of the “Libertad en Progreso” communal bank. She lives in a community belonging to Victoria del Portete (Cuenca) Parish. This is a cold climate place apt for raising livestock on its wide plains. Its residents are kind, warm and keep the customs and traditions of their peoples.

Luz is 32 years old, single and lives with her parents sharing household expenses. Her mother raises animals and her father works as a bricklayer. The house they live in belongs to her parents.

Luz has been embroidering for 8 years. She works from home and only based on prior orders. She also raises livestock and guinea pigs.

The communal bank is in its 4th loan and the new loan will be used to buy fabric, thread and other embroidery supplies to continue with her work. Her goal is to have more animals to raise.
