A loan of $575 helped a member to pay college fees for her child.

Juliet M.'s Group's story

These are teachers of a primary school in Kenema city. Their school was established in 1995 by the Methodist Mission to promote education in the city and it's surrounding area. The school is staffed with five teachers and has enrollment of 72 pupils.

School staff from this institution, like many other school's staff within SMT’s operational areas, come to SMT to apply for loans. With the help of these loans, they can accomplish certain tasks that they would otherwise have not been able to accomplish with their salaries alone. But with the help of this loan, some can pay school fees for their children. Others can use the loan to buy pieces of furniture, a plot of land, house-building materials, or invest in a business. At the end of each month, these teachers can repay the loan out of their monthly salaries. The institution’s bursar is directly responsible for deducting the repayments to SMT on their behalf.

47 year old Juliet is the leader of this group of teachers. Juliet was born in a place call Siama, in eastern Sierra Leone. She is married and has two children, one of whom is in college. Juliet has been in the teaching profession for 26 years now. She has requested this loan in order to pay college fees for her child.
