A loan of $550 helped to buy two bags of pea seed, three bags of broad bean seed, and bags of fertilizer.

Elena's story

Fifty-five-year-old Elena lives in the small village of Shururuyoc. That is where she started her family with Fidel, her husband. Together they have three young children who help them with their daily work and whom they take care of at home. Despite her age, this hardworking woman starts each day with her farm work; she wakes up at sunrise and heads to her fields to watch over them and maintain them. The main crops she grows are potatoes, peas, and broad beans. Together with her husband she harvests the crops when they are ready after months of effort. Their work is rewarded when they sell all their produce to different wholesalers in the area, who take everything to be sold in the city of Tarma. She says that working in the fields is not that complicated since all her family members work together. In addition, her husband helps support her with his work in road improvement, for which he receives a state salary. Currently, she wants to improve her fields and thus earn more from her harvests. She belongs to the Campo Verde Communal Bank and this is her sixth loan with MFP, to whom she is very thankful for the opportunity it offers her to keep working without obstacles. She also promises to make her payments on time. Upon receiving your help, Elena will invest the loan money in buying two bags of pea seed, three bags of broad bean seed, and natural fertilizers for her next sowing.
