Etoiles Plus Group's story

Gérard is the chairman of the group “Etoiles Plus,” which is made up of 20 members firmly united to receive loans from the MFI (micro-finance institution) HOPE DRC in order to develop their businesses.
Gérard has been running a general store since 2005. He has good relationships with his customers. He likes his business and he is working hard to achieve his goal of someday being a general good provider in his environment.
Gérard is happy to be one of HOPE’s clients. He intends to use his next loan to buy two boxes of soaps and one sack of sugar to resell with the aim of increasing his profits. Each day, his business brings in a profit of $30.
Gérard is 51 years old, single and the father of three children aged between 6 and 18. All of them are pupils.
