A loan of $1,900 helped a member to buy house building materials for the construction of a family house.

Daisy M.'s Group's story

Pictured above are teachers from one of the primary schools in Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone to seek a loan of 8,400,000 SLL to solve their immediate financial challenges. At the end of each month, they will then repay the loan from their monthly salaries.

Daisy is the leader of this group of teachers. Born in Segbwema village, the 48 year old has been in the teaching profession for 25 years now. She is married and has 3 children – 1 in secondary school and 2 in college. Daisy has requested this loan to buy building materials like iron bars and corrugated iron and zincs for the construction of a family house. She will also use part of the loan to pay her children's college fees.
