A loan of $2,925 helped a member to buy children's clothing for resale.

Camp De Garde / Tessito Group's story

The Tessito group was created in November 2006, on the day the "banc villageois" was inaugurated. It is composed of 17 women who live in the same neighborhood. Their principal activity is small-scale retailing.

Madame Marieandre (standing fifth, left to right), is the leader of the group. She is 73, married and the mother of five children. She sells children's clothing and chicken thighs, as she has been doing for five years now.

With this loan she counts on buying children's clothing to sell during the back-to-school period.

The profit from her business will permit her to put aside savings and help her husband with food expenses and school fees.

In this group: Mariama, Marieandre, Adama, Marie, Viviane, Mariama, Fatou, Ndeye, Thierry, Ansata, Awa, Fatou, Antoinette, Khady, Nabintou, Coumba, Taibou
