A loan of $500 helped to buy building materials and supplies to build a space for a bakery.

Maria Ester's story

María, 30, is married and has two children. She’s been working as a domestic employee for the last 11 years. Her husband has a bakery and she helps him when she gets home from work. They both work to support the family.

María is asking Fundación Campo for a loan to buy building materials and supplies needed to build a space on the side of her house where her husband can have his small bakery. The materials they need include cement and aluminum sheets. They currently rent the space her husband uses to bake the bread they sell in various communities. Having a bakery at home will allow María and her husband to save since they won’t have to pay rent. This way baking the bread will be more comfortable and profits will be better. With the loan, María and her husband will be able to buy all the needed building materials at once instead of having to make several trips to the city. At the same time, they will be able to complete the construction more quickly.

María hopes in future to earn better income to provide a better life for her family. She also hopes to be able to save up to insure her children’s education. She also wants to do some home improvements since some parts of it are in bad shape. Most of her house is built with aluminum sheets and when winter comes water gets into the house.
