A loan of $925 helped to buy kerosene and detergent.

Clara's story

52-year old Clara is a member of the Nueva Generación Community Bank in Ilave district in the department of Puno. She is married and has seven children between the ages of 10 and 32. Clara still supports one daughter who is a single mother with a baby.

Before becoming a client with Manuela Ramos, she had a stand selling candy which she started herself. Then four years ago a friend invited her to be part of the Manuela Ramos organization. Now she has a business selling detergent and kerosene which she started with a loan of S/.400. One of her daughters now runs the candy stall. With this new loan of S/.2000 Clara is going to buy detergent and two cylinders of kerosene.

She enjoys working with Manuela Ramos because of the interest she earns from her savings and also the sporting events that are organized.
