A loan of $725 helped to purchase new medicine for resale.

Robert's story

Robert is 25 years old and lives in the town of Njeru in the Jinja region of Uganda. He is married and has 2 children, 1 currently still in school. For the past 3 years, Robert has been working hard to manage his pharmacy, which sells medicine and provides medical services to the local community.

To help expand his business, Robert has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more medicine, and will help Robert to generate greater profits and pay his children's school fees. Robert hopes that in the future he will be able to build more rental houses and expand his pharmacy into a clinic.

Robert is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Robert who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
