Rosa María
Rosa is a 34-year old woman who is divorced. She lives with her five children, aged 16, 15, 11, 10 and 6. The live south from the city of Quito, capital city of Ecuador. Her residence is located in the Parrish named "Chillogallo", a populous sector in the capital that is traditional and picturesque.

Rosa sells coffee with "empanadas de viento", cheese and onion pastries, and "bolones de verde" , green plantain dumplings stuffed with cheese. They are delicious snacks which are traditional in Ecuador. She sells in a market in the Parrish where she lives. She learned this business from her mother. She works up to 13 hours per day and during her spare time she takes care of the house work. She tells us that in the beginning it was not easy to work in this business because the city police would move people like Rosa who would be selling their products without municipal permits. But things have changed and she is well situated now and she has the permits that she needs to her business.

This hardworking woman wants to fix her house and it is the reason why she has approached Fundacion Alternativa (Kiva Field Partner). She requests a loan so that her children will have a more dignified home in which to live.

Rosa es una mujer de 34 años y es divorciada, vive con sus cinco hijos que tienen 16, 15, 11, 10 y 6 años de edad, al sur de la ciudad de Quito capital del Ecuador. Su residencia está ubicada en la parroquia llamada "Chillogallo", un sector populoso´, tradicional y pintoresco de la capital.

Rosa trabaja vendiendo café con "empanadas de viento" y "bolones de verde", unos bocaditos exquisitos y tradicionales del Ecuador en un mercado de la parroquia donde vive. Este negocio lo aprendió de su madre. Trabaja hasta 13 horas al día y en su tiempo libre se dedica a las labores del hogar. Nos comenta que al inicio no era fácil trabajar en este negocio ya que la Policía Metropolitana desalojaba a quienes como Rosa vendían sus productos sin permiso municipal. Pero las cosas han cambiado y ella ya está bien ubicada y con los permisos que se requiere para esta actividad.

Esta mujer trabajadora quiere arreglar su vivienda por lo que ha recurrido a Fundación Alternativa en busca de un crédito y de esta manera que sus hijos vivan en una vivienda más digna.
