A loan of $1,075 helped to buy animals.

Rosa Elvira's story

Rosa is a 43 year-old woman who is married to Jose and is the mother of two children: Carina, 21, and Jhonny, 17. They live south of the city of Quito, the capital of Ecuador, in a neighborhood on the outskirts of the city called "Magdalena Alta." Her husband works in construction.

Her family used to raise animals, and so a few years ago she also started in this business. Rosa buys young animals and raises them until she can sell them at a better price. In this way she contributes to the household finances. She tells us that it has been difficult to find financing through the big financial institutions, because they will not give loans to small businesspeople like her that have an informal business.

Rosa dreams of building her own house. To do this, she must expand her business by investing in it. To achieve this objective, Fundación Alternativa has given her support by granting her access to the resources she needs. This way, her quality of life will improve and she will get closer to fulfilling her dreams.
