João's story

João was born in the District of Boane, in the Province of Maputo in the south of Mozambique, is married and the father of 7 children, all adults. He completed primary school and didn't continue his education due to a lack of financial means. He lives in his own house with his family and supports another 4 grandchildren who live with him.

He has never left his home town, has been a trader for more than 14 years and has a monthly income of around 10,000.00 meticals (MZN) which he spends on household expenses and saves in his bank account (BIM).

He has never had loans with other banks and came to know Hluvuku through a neighbour who is also a client of this institution. This is his first loan with Hluvuku for the amount of 20,000.00 MZN, with which he intends to purchase products (beans, peanuts, fish, oil, pasta and others) to increase the quantity of his goods.

He commits to paying off the loan without problems and in future intends to solicit more loans from Hluvuku to increase his commercial activity.
