A loan of $550 helped to purchase more shoes for resale.

Julius's story

Julius is 40 years old and lives in the town of Ntungamo in the Mbarara region of Uganda. For the past 3 years, he has been working hard to manage his small shop, which sells second-hand shoes.

To help expand his business, Julius has requested a loan of 1,500,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more shoes for resale, and will help Julius to generate greater profits and improve the standard of living for him and his wife. He hopes that in the future he will be able to have children and educate them up to university level.

Julius is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like him who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
