A loan of $550 helped to purchase poultry feed.

Joseph's story

Joseph is 45 years old and lives in the town of Luwero in the Luwero region of Uganda. He is married and has 5 children with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 10 years, Joseph has been working hard to manage his small farm, which rears chickens.

To help expand his business, Joseph has requested a loan of 1,500,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase poultry feed, and will help Joseph to generate greater profits and have enough feed for his chickens. Joseph hopes that in the future he will be able to continue to grow his business.

Joseph is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs, like Joseph, who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
