A loan of $500 helped a member to buy corn and groundnut oil.

Mahutin Group's story

The MAHUTIN group is made up of three people who live in the same town in Benin. This is the fourth time that the group has requested financial aid from ALIDé, in order to raise the level of their business.

The group's representative, named Johanan, is the one with her hand raised in the photo. Johanan is 47 years old and lives in Benin. Johanan is a widow with five children under her care. All the children are in school. In order to support herself and her children, Johanan runs a business selling "l'Akassa" (a paste made from corn starch) and fried fish. Johanan has been running this business for eight years. Johanan gets her stock at one of the largest markets in Benin.

Aiming to satisfy her customers and increase her revenue and her income, Johanan, together with the other members of the MAHUTIN group, is requesting a fourth loan. The loans they received in the past have all been repaid.

In this group: Johanan, Agnès, Estelle
