A loan of $300 helped to buy shoe accessories such as shoelaces of different sizes and colors, sponges for shining shoes, shoe polish, and shoe wax.

Lucia's story

Women now take care of their families since a lot of the men unfortunately are unemployed. Many of them have to help their husbands with the household expenses. Such is the case with Lucia, whose husband is one of the thousands of unemployed in their country. Lucia says that she helps her husband with the household expenses, supporting their three children, and providing them an education. She established a business buying and selling a wide variety of baked goods such as pan de nata, pan de huevos, conches, cuernitos, and other items. Every day she buys baked goods at an early hour and then sells them at the supply market around 8am. She also has a vending post where she sells shoelaces of different sizes and colors, sponges for shining shoes, shoe polish, and shoe wax. Lucia says this business helps her while she sells bread, thereby allowing her to have a better quality of life. She says that thanks to the loans, her business has grown tremendously.

Lucia would like to express her appreciation for the help from the lenders so that she can improve her quality of life.
