A loan of $375 helped to make bread to sell at her post.

Maria Del Pilar's story

Pilar is 47 years old and is married. Her children are no longer dependent upon her because they are married, but at times they help her tend to her sales post. Pili, as she is known by her friends, has a business selling custard bread, egg bread, sweet bread and rolls from a post that she has in the center of her town. Pilar says that it took a lot of work for her to be able to rent this little space to sell, since the government of her locality requires a lot of paperwork in order to grant a permit to sell. But after a lot of effort, she was able to manage it and now she has been in this place for more than 9 years. She says that she gets up very early to make her bread; she starts to work at 4 in the morning with her husband, so that by 8am they have hot bread that is ready to sell at her post. She is requesting a loan to buy supplies to make the breads that she sells. She will buy: milk, eggs, flour, cream, sugar, and firewood, since she bakes her bread in a wood-fired oven. Pilar is very pleased, because thanks to this loan, she will have the raw materials she needs to make her breads that are so well-liked in her region.
