A loan of $1,100 helped to buy bags of fertilizer, and seeds for trees such as mahogany, cedar, tornillo, and pine.

Heraclio's story

Heraclio is 43, and a very hard-working man. He tries hard to give the best to his two dear children, who are the reason why he continues working. They live together in their own house. He farms on three hectares of land, where he grows cacao, coffee, achiote (annatto seeds) and peanuts.

His parents taught him to till the soil from the time he was a child, and at the age of 25, he bought his own parcel of land. Since then, he has been working in this business. However, during harvest season and weeding he needs the help of day laborers in order to get the work done more quickly.

He feels very committed to his work, because thanks to his daily efforts, he has the enjoyment of seeing his plants give good crops. He also says that the winter season isn't to his liking, because those are the times when the greatest amount of rain falls, spoiling the shoots of his crops.

This will be his 14th loan with MFP. He expects to be very punctual with his payments, since he doesn't want to cause problems for the institution, and is grateful for their previous assistance. With the 3,000 soles he is applying for, he will buy bags of fertilizer and seeds for trees such as mahogany, tornillo, cedar, and chuncho pine.
