Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Sonia's story

Sonia is a member of the Paloma community bank. She is 27 years old and has one child. She has been a member of FINCA Peru for two years.

Sonia has a grocery store in Vilcashuaman. In Ayacucho she has a cart where she sells all kinds of groceries and also food. She recalls that, in the past, she only had the cart but it wasn't much. She used her first loan to buy sugar and rice. Now her business has grown and FINCA have helped with all the training sessions and the loans they gave her. Sonia is very happy with everything that she has accomplished. She will invest her current loan in buying rice, sugar and candies. Her dream is to own a wholesale store.
