A loan of $5,300 helped to pay for first bulk production of shirts and start the business website.

Mikel's story

This is a time of new beginnings for Mikel. Four months ago, he and his wife gave birth to a baby girl, and he is currently getting his new clothing line off the ground. Mikel works full-time at a university while being a new dad and an entrepreneur. His goal is for his business, Eli Pierce, is to provide the working man with stylish dress shirts that “fit like a glove”. Mikel started the business from his personal savings and has gone through the production process a few times with samples of his shirt designs made by the manufacturer. He says the biggest challenge for Eli Pierce will be penetrating the men’s fine shirts market and getting the website up and running.

This loan from ACCION USA will enable Mikel to pay upfront for the fabric needed to produce the first set of bulk inventory. The loan is also helping Mikel start the business website so he can take orders online and become profitable.
