A loan of $725 helped to buy products such as shelving for her displays.

Melita's story

Melita, 40, is a hardworking and responsible woman. She is in a common-law marriage and has six children: 19, 17, 15, 6, 3 and the youngest is 8 months. All of them are dependent on her and her partner for their education and food. They live in their own house where they do everything possible to offer them a better quality of life. She sells used clothing on the highway at kilometer 86 as well as to the people who live by the water and who pay her with animals. She has been doing this for 10 years and says that it’s going well. However, she now has a newborn and she can’t travel, so she is thinking about starting a business that can be in her house and would allow her to get income without taking risks by traveling far.
With this in mind she is planning on opening a general store that she hopes will do well. Now all her hopes are set on this new business that she wants to start. This will be her 14th loan with MFP. She is a good group member and is known as being punctual and collaborative with the others. She hope to continue working together now that, thanks to the loans, she has had a lot of support in her investment and to be able to increase her working capital. She will use the money requested to buy merchandise for her store, as well as for purchasing some shelving and groceries to start her new project.
