Enrique Gregorio's story

Enrique is a 52-year-old man. He has three children and lives with his family in Río Verde parish, in Santo Domingo canton. Santo Domingo is a canton and city in the new province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. This was previously a rural parish of Quito. Santo Domingo is located between Ecuador's coast and mountains. It is a hub between Quito, Guayaquil, Portoviejo and other important cities. Located on the flanks of the western mountain range, on the lower coastal plain, 1000 meters above sea level, it is the rainiest area of the country. The area has great hydrological richness: there are five basins and important micro basins. The area has a subtropical, humid climate. The average temperature is 22 °C.

Enrique works selling soft drinks in the city. However, he also lives on a small farm that produces fruit. His two jobs have enabled him to support his family. His wife helps him with his business activities and they are planning to buy a car which will enable them to transport their products more easily and make income more quickly. This would enable them to enjoy a better quality of life. Enrique requested a loan from Fundación Alternativa to invest in buying products to sell. This will make him an income which will enable him to reach his goal of buying a vehicle to make his work easier.
