Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Selina's story

Selina is a married woman with one child who is too young for school. Her husband is a businessman who contributes to the provisioning of family basic needs. She has a house with neither electricity nor piped water. Her greatest monthly expenses are food for her family and water.

She has operated a retail shop for the past one year; her potential clients are her neighbors. She faces a major challenge of transportation. She dreams of establishing a wholesale shop in the future.

With the Kshs 20,000 she wants to purchase bundles of wheat flour, maize flour, sugar and cooking oil. She decided to join Yehu because of easy access to affordable loans.
