A loan of $2,075 helped a member to purchase piglets and pig feed.

Teratai Indah Group's story

Like many Balinese women, Sayu Komang and the other members of the Teratai Indah group raise pigs in their yards to supplement their families 'incomes. Through many women support their families in this way, they may not know the best way to raise pigs to maximize income. Sayu Komang hopes that, through the MUK Pig Breeder Loan Program, she will not only get capital but will also get training from MUK on the best way to feed and care for pigs.

Sayu Komang will use her share of the loan to purchase piglets and pig feed. She plans to sell the piglets after six months for use as pork. With her profits, she will help support her family of three by supplementing the income of her husband, who works as a farmer. Ultimately, Sayu Komang hopes that increased income will enable her to pay school fees.
