Cuenca, Ecuador / Animal Sales

A loan of $1,100 helped to buy animal feed.

Laura Alejandrina's story

Laura is a member of the communal bank "La Esquina." She lives in the Sinincay parish. Here one can find beautiful places to observe nature, a great variety of traditional dishes, and people who maintain their culture and traditions. The people here are known for their kindness and friendliness.

Laura is 34 years old and married. Her marriage has produced 4 children who are now aged 14, 13, 10 and 2. Two of the children are in school, and one is in an elementary school in the city. Her husband works in construction as a bricklayer. They own the home that they live in.

Laura has a business raising and selling animals. She raises guinea pigs, chickens, and especially cattle. She rents pasture lands to feed her livestock. She does this type of work because it gives her time to care for her children.

She has been a member of her communal bank for 5 years, and she will invest this new loan in the purchase of feed for her animals.

Her goal is to buy pasture land so that she can raise more livestock.
