A loan of $625 helped to purchase construction materials (sand, stone, cement, rebar, etc.) for his house.

Alberto's story

Alberto was born in the province of Tete in northern Mozambique. He is married and the father of five adult children. He went to school through the fourth grade but had to drop out because of financial difficulties. He lives with his family in a home they own, and isn't financially responsible for anyone else.
He left Tete in order to fulfill his military service. He retired from the military after 20 years and earns a pension of 6,800 meticals a month. He uses the pension to pay for household expenses and also saves a little in a bank account. He has never had loans from other banks. He learned about Hluvuku from friends who are also clients of the institution. This is his fourth loan, in the amount of 16,000 meticals, which he will use to purchase construction materials (sand, stone, cement, rebar, etc.) to continue the construction on his house. His first loans, in the amounts of 4,000, 8,500, and 12,500 meticals, were all also used for his home. He hopes to ask for further loans from Hluvuku so he can finish his house.
