A loan of $675 helped to buy ceramic decorations.

María Narcisa's story

María is a member of the “Pisando Fuerte” (Taking Strong Steps) communal bank. She lives in the outskirts of the city of Cuenca. This is the country’s third most important city. It’s been a Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1999 due to the beauty of its architecture and culture. Its people are kind and charming.

María is 31 years old, married and has three children who are 14, 10 and 2 years of age. Her oldest son is in secondary school and her next oldest son goes to the local elementary school. Her husband is an auto body repairman. They do not own their house; they are renters.

María buys ceramic decorations (crafts) that she paints and then sells. She’s been in this business for a year and a half.

This is the second loan she’s taken in the communal bank and she’s going to use it to buy clay decorations to stay in business. Her goal is to expand her business.
