A loan of $225 helped to buy ingredients to prepare the food she sells.

Liria's story

Liria is 67 years old. She is a very hard-working and responsible woman. She is married and the mother of one son, who is already grown and independent. They live together, and he covers some household expenses. Her work consists of preparing and selling tamales and humitas [corn cakes], as well as empanadas and stuffed potatoes. These are dishes in great demand in her region. Her work starts very early in the morning, when she goes to the market to buy the necessary ingredients such as ground corn, flour, chicken, pork and spices. She learned to make these dishes from her mother, who taught her both the preparation process and the seasoning, and they have earned her a great following of customers who regularly eat what she sells. Most of her customers are people who are getting service at her son's tire repair business; the workshop is located near their home. She likes her work, because in addition to generating income, it makes her an independent woman. In the future, she would like to have a soda fountain in her home, so that she can offer more complete service. This will be her first loan with MFP, and she hopes for support from each one of you. With the amount she is requesting, she will buy ingredients and supplies to prepare her products.
