A loan of $5,000 helped a member to purchase 5 bales of second-hand clothing.

Fahamu Group's story

Nankafu, the borrower and leader of the Fahamu business group, is a 56-year-old businesswoman who is married, the mother of several children, and has grandsons and granddaughters. Her husband is a small storekeeper. She sells clothing (second-hand). She has been undertaking small, income-generating occupations such as this since her youth.

Nankafu has just completed 9 loan cycles with Hekima. Her initial capital came from her husband. This new loan will allow her to provision her business with 5 bales of second-hand clothing and take on other mini-projects for her family. Furthermore, she wishes to see her children grow up comfortably, and to buy a jeep for personal transportation.

Nankafu thanks Hekima for its actions in favor of poor women who are excluded from traditional banks.
