A loan of $775 helped to buy fish, shrimp, conches, and other seafood.

Carmen's story

The members of the community bank Crucita meet in the Crucita parish of the city of Portoviejo. This place is known for its beautiful beaches that surround the pretty town and that are visited by many tourists, both domestic and international. It is known by the name "Crucita la Bella" (Crucita The Beautiful).
This is where we met Carmen. She is 55 years old, single, and lives in her brother's house. He is married and has 3 children who our friend loves as though they were her own.
Our friend has a business buying and selling seafood. She has a store in her house where she sells fish, shrimp, conches, octopus, and other types of seafood. She works on the last 4 days of the week because the most tourists come to the local beaches on those days. She has been doing this for 20 years. She buys her goods directly from the fishermen, which is beneficial because she gets fish fresh from the sea and at a good price.
This loan is for buying fish, shrimp, octopus, conches, and other seafood. She has been with the community bank from its start and likes it because of the benefits it has offered her.
Her dream is to have a big fridge.
