A loan of $1,100 helped to buy pigs.

Nancy Piedad's story

Nancy is a member of 'El Cisne' (The Swan) community bank. She lives in a community in El Valle parish. This parish is surrounded by mountains which provide us with beautiful landscapes. The people are very kind and they maintain the culture and traditions of their parents. They work in commerce, raise animals and farm.

Nancy is 36 years old, married, and has four children from her marriage aged 18, 16, 8 and 6. Her eldest [daughter] is married and lives independently, her second [daughter] works and helps her financially and her two youngest children are attending an elementary school in the city. Her husband works in a carpentry workshop and they own their own home.

Nancy has been a pig dealer for 10 years and she only sells on market days. She raises pigs, guinea pigs and chickens at home. She also farms. What she harvests is for her family's consumption only.

Nancy has been a member of her community bank for ten years. She is one of the founding members of the bank. She will invest this new loan in buying pigs so that she can continue with her business.

Nancy's goal is to expand her business and raise more animals.
