A loan of $375 helped to buy sacks of fertilizer.

Cipriana's story

Cipriana is 37 years old and married to 37-year-old Teodoro. The couple have four children and live together in their own home, which is located in Nueva Fortaleza community, in Pichari. Cipriana has been growing and harvesting cacao since she was very young even though, back then, she wasn't growing her own crops. However, she always longed to have her own. With the small salary that she earned, she managed to save up and now she grows and sells her own produce such as coffee and cacao. She acknowledges that if it weren't for all the years of work and education that her family gave her, she would never have managed to achieve what she has up to now. Having top-quality produce is a sign of how much she learned and her buyers are satisfied. Sometimes her children support her in her work but, at harvest time, she must hire laborers to take care of this hard work. This will be Cipriana's first loan from MFP and she pledges to make her loan repayments on time. She will use her 1,000 soles to buy fertilizers so that she can fertilize her farmland.
