A loan of $3,200 helped a member to buy electrical equipment for her bakery.

Amanecer Mercedes Group's story

The “Amanecer de Mercedes” (Dawn of Mercy) communal bank is beginning its 2nd cycle of loans with Pro-Mujer (Pro-Woman), as part of the Centro Cascada (Cascade Center). The bank is composed of 8 members and is directed by a board headed by Luz Karina. The businesses pursued by members of the communal association are varied. Among them we have: selling costume jewelry and fruit juices, selling hose, a merchant, making macrame, a neighborhood store, making artisan crafts, a locksmith shop, and a confectioner's shop.

Luz Karina has been with Pro-Mujer for 5 months, having been invited by a promoter. At present, she has a confectioner's shop, or bakery, which she has operated for some 21 years.

The loan she now seeks is for buying electrical equipment from La Ceja for the bakery. With this she will bake her products and sell them by order. This form of work allows her to generate resources to help her family as much as possible, since she is single and has 4 children.

When asked what she likes about Pro-Mujer, Luz Karina said she likes the rapid access to funds.

In the photo, the member Gloria is not present due to a medical consultation.
