Flor De Maria's story

Sra. Flor is a member of the Mujeres Productivas communal bank in Manatay district, Ucayali department. She is 49 years old, married and has three adult children. She makes clothing in her own home. She set up a small workshop and relies on machines that facilitate her work and give her garments a better finish.

With her new loan of 1,500 nuevos soles, she will buy 5 kilos of lycra, 4 kilos of cotton, 10 meters of lace and 2 cones of thread.

She sells the garments she makes very reasonably because her customers earn low wages, nevertheless she makes a profit from each item she sells. In addition, she also does mending.

She lives alone with her husband. He is self employed and earns enough for the two of them and for fixed household expenses, since they have already educated their children and that gives them great peace of mind.
