A loan of $850 helped to purchase twelve head of sheep.

Yesenia Rosario's story

Yesenia is a member of the communal bank “Central Vaquería”, located in the neighborhood of Vaquería, in the district of Ilave, in the province of El Collao, in the department of Puno. She is 32 years old, married and has 3 children and studied up until high school. She works together with her husband in the purchase of animals such as sheep and the sale of meat. Her initial loan was for 500.00 soles, money that she used for the purchase of four lambs. With this new loan of 2,300.00 soles, she will purchase twelve head of sheep. She tells us that her husband purchases the animals at the fairs in Juli, Zepita, Huacullani, in order to later slaughter them and sell the meat in the city of Puno. She would like to have a car in order to transport the merchandise, thus minimizing expenses. What she likes about the communal bank is the happiness between the members and the ease of the loan.
