A loan of $750 helped to buy a sack of corn, barley, oats, potatoes, chuño, and beans.

Eulalia's story

Eulalia is a member of the communal bank "La Yunguyeñita," which is located in the district and province of Yunguyo, in the department of Puno. She is 55 years old. She is married and has five children, all of them independent. She went to school up to the 5th grade of primary school. She has been working with the Manuela Ramos Movement for four years. Her first loan was for 300 PEN, and she invested it in her business, which is selling regional food products, such as potatoes, corn, oats, beans, and other grains. With her new loan of 2000 PEN she will buy a sack of corn, barley, oats, potatoes, chuño (Peruvian freeze-dried potatoes), and beans. She buys her merchandise in Desaguadero and sells it in the town of Juliaca. She works alone in her business. Her husband works independently, selling fertilizers. This lady wants to continue with her business and improve her income. What she likes most about the communal bank are the meetings and the opportunity for savings.
