Elena's story

Elena is a member of the “La Yunguyeñita” Communal Bank, which is located in the district and province of Yunguyo, in the department of Puno. She is 42 years old, and is married with two children. She attended school up to secondary level.

The Señora works selling groceries, and also sells shoes, tweezers, etc., in the city of Arequipa. She has been working with the Movimiento Manuela Ramos for more than six years; her first loan was for the sum of 300 New Soles, which she invested in her business.

With this new loan of 500 New Soles, she will increase the capital of her business and buy 50 pairs of shoes as well as merchandise for her store such as milk, cookies and sodas. The Señora works on her own in the business; her husband works for a company as a security guard.

The Señora wants her children to become professionals and be employed, this is what she is working so hard for.

What she likes about the Communal Bank are the meetings and the loan facility.
