A loan of $375 helped to buy cacao plants.

Alejandra's story

Alejandra is from the city of Santa Rosa. She is 47, married and has three children at school. They live peacefully together in their own house. Since she was a very little girl, Alejandra worked in her parents' fields. After some time, she managed to save some money and put it together with the inheritence she received from her father to buy 3 hectares of land, which she works very hard. She has ploughed and fertilised the fields in order to grow cacao, coffee and barbasco root, products which are then sold wholesale in distribution centres in the cities of San Francisco and Santa Rosa.

These products have given Alejandra the necessary income to keep up with the household expenses. What she likes most about her job is caring for the crops, as she feels happy doing it. She has been doing this for 15 years and would say that the most difficult part is transporting the products from the farm to the area where they dry the grains, which is located in the town. For that reason she has to employ farmhands who help her with this heavy work. In the future, she would like to buy new land to grow more crops.

This will be Alejandra's 6th loan with MFP and she is asking for a little help so she can achieve her goals. For her part, she promises once more to keep up with her repayments. She is grateful for being part of her communal bank as all the members are responsible people. With the money she has requested, she will buy more cacao plants and graft them so that they will bear fruit more quickly.
