A loan of $850 helped to buy 40 bags of cereals.

Philomène's story

Philomène is married and has six dependent children. She lives with her children and husband in their own house located in a western suburb of Cotonou, the economic capital of Benin. Philomène works as a vendor selling cereals and yams in front of her house. She has been doing this work in 1986 and knows the ropes. She stocks up at the market in the villages where the produce is grown. She just took out her second loan from FINADEV in order to make wholesale purchases, minimizing both the frequency of her shopping trips and the initial cost of goods, so as to satisfy diverse needs of her customers and to maximize her profit. The additional revenue generated thanks to this microloan will allow her to better provide for her children and improve their quality of life.
