A loan of $2,000 helped a member to buy food to cook.

Vecinal 3 Group's story

The “VECINAL 3” community bank will begin its first cycle with Pro Mujer, as a part of the Panamericana center. It is made up of ten members and is directed by Beatriz, who is the president. The association members' businesses are varied. Among them, we have: opening a grocery store, making blankets, selling food, knitting hats and gaiters, knitting gloves, selling potatoes, selling children's clothes, making sweaters with machine knitting, selling clothes and shoes. Beatriz has been a member of Pro Mujer since 2002 and she joined at the invitation of a developer. At present, she has a business selling food. She has done this for fifteen years. She will take out the loan to increase her capital (to buy food to cook). She will do her purchases in La Ceja to later prepare the food and sell it in her locale. This type of work allows her to generate income to support her family. She is married and has a son. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that she likes to loans.
