A loan of $500 helped a member to source farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

Enjeresha Group's story

Greetings from Western Kenya! Violet is the facilitator of the Enjeresha group. Violet and her group joined One Acre Fund in the year 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program.

With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Violet and her group during Kenya’s next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs is part of One Acre Fund’s integrated agriculture package, which includes training, reliable input supply (such as fertilizer and seeds), credit and insurance.

Violet takes care of three children at home. She joined One Acre Fund in order to have additional maize profits to educate her children and ensure food security for the family.

With income from the maize sales, Violet will pay her loan and educate her children.

In 2012, the members of Enjeresha group will each plant maize on plots between ½ and 1 acre of land.

In this group: Violet, Benedettor, Cleophas, Chrispinus, Wekesa, Violet, Silas
