A loan of $475 helped a member to source farming inputs such as seeds and fertilizer at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

Sinani B Group's story

Moses is the facilitator of the Sinani B group. Moses and his group joined One Acre Fund in the year 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program.

With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Moses and his group during Kenya’s next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs is part of One Acre Fund’s integrated agriculture package, which includes training, reliable input supply (such as fertilizer and seeds), credit and insurance.

Moses takes care of 11 children at home. He joined One Acre Fund in order to secure enough food for the family and have additional maize to enable him to educate his children. In the recent 2011 season, Moses had a very good maize yield harvesting 8 bags on ½ acre of land. Before joining One Acre Fund, Moses was only able to harvest 3 bags of maize on ½ acres of land.

With income from his maize sales, Moses will educate his children and invest in animal raising.
